Our Mission
At Friends of Sammy, our mission is to support and uplift at-risk youth and families throughout Broward County by providing essential resources, encouragement and opportunities for a brighter future. Through initiatives like our Annual Back-to-School and Holiday Toy Drives, we address immediate needs while fostering meaningful community connections.
Our Story
Giving back has always been a part of who we are as a family. Even when we didn't have much, if we had extra, we'd share it. There's nothing like seeing a smile on a child's face
when they receive new school supplies or
a special toy during our holiday toy drive.
One cause especially close to our hearts is supporting individuals and families affected by Alzheimer's and Dementia. That's why we work closely with the team at NE Focal Point to provide much-needed supplies and care.
Throughout the year, we also help fight food insecurity by delivering meals and groceries to those in need. And that's just the beginning. We're growing and we'd love for you to be a part of this journey.

Who is Sammy?
Sammy is our beloved Black Miniature Schnauzer - and at nearly 18 years old, he's still going strong. But Sammy isn't just a dog. He's a reminder of everything good in both pets and people. Sammy embodies unconditional love, quiet compassion and a deep empathy for those who need it most. He comforts you when you're feeling down and celebrates right alongside you during life's joyful moments. He reminds us how we should treat each other-with kindness, patience and heart.
When we were searching for a name for this nonprofit, we thought about all the joy Sammy has given us over the years. This is our way of honoring him and carrying forward the love he so freely gives.

My Blog
Saturday, August 2nd, was the 4th Annual Deerfield Beach Back to School Block Party. It was Friends of Sammy's first official event as a nonprofit. There were 1500 kiddos and parents that came out to get school supplies and everyone had a blast. I was excited to be one of the 25 organizations that were able to assist with back-to-school supplies. Lots more to do around town and in Broward County....just getting started...stay tuned!!
